This is Craig Hornby's PanCrack Pictures who made 'A Century In Stone'. Craig had some nice things to say about the novel. "Being set in our area it is a novelty novel - I like the combination of the down to earth setting of real local places with sci-fi fantasy. Excellent for kids and for getting them hiking in the Cleveland Hills" |

Ex-teacher and local singer-songwriter Jim Barry's CD Songs of the Stone is a superb collection of self-penned material about the history of the Eston Hills and the Eston ironstone mines. The twelve songs included on his CD include material such as 24 Tons, Galahad and Trappy lad, while the superb musicianship and evocative lyrics throughout make this a valuable record of the history of the local area. Jim now lives in Spain. For further information and lyrics visit Jim at www.myspace.com/jimbarryuk Jim can be contacted at: lostchord@hotmail.com |

There is a wealth of local talent in the north of England, as there is in all areas of the UK, however making that first break is always the most difficult step. It is very important for local artists, musicians and authors to support each other and share contacts as much as possible, and I would urge everyone who visits my website to take the time to visit the pages of fellow teacher and author Karen Langtree. Karen is a wonderful writer from York who, like myself, is a full-time primary teacher with designs on something more. Karen's debut novel 'The Wicked Stepmother' is a great read, and her website has an intruiging mix of interractive writer-reader activities, support and advice for budding writers, and great feedback from her fans. Karen is also an experienced musician who has turned her talents towards writing musicals for Key Stage 2, and I would recommend taking the time to explore her website. You won't be disappointed!
